about

Frankie and the No-Go Road is a concept album based on twelve steps of the hero's journey -- a series of steps that humans all over the world have in common in their stories.

The album was much inspired by Joseph Campbell's book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and Dr. Jack D. Forbes' book, Columbus and Other Cannibals. Dr. Forbes and Dr. Whalen Lai were mentors to Rita at University of California Davis, and both (unbeknownst to them) greatly influenced the creation of this record.

The artwork for this album as well as the subsequent masks used at CD release shows were influenced by the work of Norval Morrisseau -- Anishinaabe artist and "Picasso of the North."

This album won great praise across the pond, with a "Splendid" five stars from The Telegraph, and "One of Americana's finest concept albums," from The Observer.

Liner notes are available as downloads with the music. They are booklet lyrics and "headlines" that keep the listener informed as to the journey.
